Sept.10 – Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel says the car is very good and the balance is perfect for Italian Grand Prix. The German has locked his tenth pole position of this season by more than half second over Lewis Hamilton.
“We thought it would be much closer than that,” Championship leader said through the post-qualifying press conference. “I had a bit of an improvement in the first run for my second lap, we weren’t sure whether the tyres actually worked best in the first or the second lap, but then I did a bit of a mistake and then we stayed out and focused on the last run. I knew I had a bit more time in the car, the first lap I did on my own and the second lap I had one or two cars ahead down the road which always helps here at Monza. We would not have expected to have got pole by that big margin today on a track that for the last two years hasn’t suited us.
“This year I have to say the car is very good here, the balance is perfect, even though for most of the people except those two (Hamilton and Button) we don’t carry a lot of wing around,” he added. “On low downforce it’s very slippery, but still we are quite quick throughout all three sectors. I was able to put it together so I’m very happy today, also considering we have quite a racey approach.”
