McLaren and Sauber punished for unsafe releases

July.10 – McLaren and Sauber teams have been fined for the dangerous releases of Jenson Button and Kamui Kobayashi through pitstops in the British GP.

McLaren was given a €5,000 fine, even as Sauber will have to pay €20,000 added to Kobayashi receiving a drive-through penalty for his unsafe release during the race.

Kobayashi was released in front of Rubens Barrichello and damaged one of Force India’s air hoses in the process. Button retired from the incident following his front right tyre nut was loss to his car.
