June.25 – Championship leader Sebastian Vettel was happy with his pole position for Sunday’s European GP with the German has taken his eighth pole position from seven races in 2011. The Red Bull driver finished just one run during the final stage of qualifying to claim the top spot, while team-mate Mark Webber added to the team’s success by setting the second fastest time.
“All in all, a very good day for us, it’s very good to have the front row for our team,” Vettel said through the post-qualifying press meeting. “It will be a long race tomorrow, it’s always tough here. It’s a tricky circuit, there are so many corners, we have got 25 before we cross the line again. Especially in qualifying, to get every single corner right is very, very difficult, so to get the perfect lap in is quite tough.
“My first run was quite good, I was very happy and Mark obviously (moved up to second) in the second run. It’s a good result and a good point to start from tomorrow, so we’ll see what we can do.”
