June.11 – The Spaniard Fernando Alonso has set his sights confidently on victory for the Canadian GP on Sunday, despite behind the Red Bull challenger Sebastian Vettel who claimed his 6th pole position in this season. The two-time Champion missed out on the top spot by a margin of 0.185 seconds, while team-mate Felipe Massa was just five thousandths of a second further back in third.
“It’s the best result of the year for the team, second and third,” Alonso explained during the post-race press conference. “Two tenths behind Red Bull is a much better than we expected and a much better result than in the first six races. We’re happy with today’s performance from the car and the whole weekend has been very smooth for us, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
