Jenson Button happy to be on another podium finish

Jenson Button was satisfied to have chronicle a second podium finish in a row as he crossed the finishing line second to McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton in Montreal. On the back of his leaving in Monaco, the erstwhile championship leader is now just three points off the lead subsequent again second place.

Button led the standings following Spain race, helped significantly by his win in Australia and China, although the reigning title owner had dropped back following his Monte-Carlo mishap. But, regardless of naturally wishing to finish ahead of Hamilton on Sunday, Jenson remains pleased with McLaren’s incredible result.

“It’s a very difficult race, this type of race, because you’re never sure if you’re looking after the tyres enough,” he said, having commented before the race that a ‘flat-out’ strategy may not be correct.

“I had Vettel so close to me but he hit some traffic and then I managed to close in on these two, Hamilton and Alonso.”

“I think, if you watch the race, certain people were very quick at certain parts of the race,” Jenson continued. “It’s great to be back up here again – I’d rather be first but it’s great to be back up here!”
