Michael Schumacher change in role for?

Michael Schumacher will reportedly no longer be a direct advisor to Ferrari’s Formula 1 team.

The seven-time World Champion recently renewed his contract with the Italian marque through 2012, referring specifically to his input into the road cars department.

Whether his ongoing role would involve F1 was not specifically mentioned in the September announcement, but Diario AS has reported that Schumacher will not be involved with the Ferrari team.

However, the newspaper added that he will continue to attend some grand prix, although not as many as before.

It remains to be seen if the apparent change in Schumacher’s duties has anything to do with a possible function within the FIA.

When former Ferrari Team Principal Jean Todt was elected President of the sport’s governing body a few weeks ago, the Frenchman had indicated that the German would always have a place at his side.
